Nexus issues a fresh deposit address per order, so the bookkeeping is handled. What you control is where the coin comes from and how you send it.
Hold your own coin in Feather or Cake for Monero, or Sparrow or Electrum for Bitcoin and Litecoin, rather than sending straight from an identity-checked exchange. Cake carries a built-in Bitcoin-to-Monero swap, which is the common on-ramp.
Open the order, copy the deposit address, send from your wallet, and wait for confirmations. Keep the on-market balance sized to the order in front of you and withdraw the rest to a wallet you control.
A fresh address lets the market attach an incoming payment to a specific order without you labelling anything. It also means an address from a previous order belongs to that order. Sending to it reaches the market and not your current purchase, which turns a simple payment into a support conversation.
Your transaction is broadcast, picked into a block, then buried under further blocks. Each block on top is a confirmation and the market waits for several before treating the money as settled. Ten minutes to an hour of nothing visible is ordinary. Check your own wallet for the confirmation count before assuming anything went wrong, because if it is progressing the payment exists and has simply not been credited yet.
Two unmatched deposits are considerably harder to reconcile than one late one, and the second is not faster. If a deposit genuinely arrived short, the cause is almost always the wallet fee setting, and the fix is a support message with the order reference and the exact amount rather than another transaction.
Escrow protects money attached to an open order and nothing else. A balance sitting on the market between orders is exposed to whatever happens to the market. Deposit close to what you intend to spend and take the rest back out, which also avoids paying repeated network fees on small top ups.
Anything sizeable on this network is slow, and an upload that stalls at a fixed percentage is a bandwidth ceiling rather than a queue. Waiting does not help. A new circuit does, and sending something smaller helps more. Check whether a first attempt partially landed before retrying, because three copies of the same attachment is a mess somebody has to sort out.
